Albuquerque, N.M. – In Albuquerque’s upcoming city council elections, every vote can be a voice for animals. As the city continues to face significant animal issues in upcoming years, Animal Protection Voters (APV) proudly announces its endorsement of Pat Davis for election to Albuquerque City Council’s District 6.
“Davis is clearly the best candidate to represent voters who care about the humane treatement of animals,” said Jessica Johnson, chief legislative officer for APV. “He understands that the well-being of our communities is directly linked to how animals are treated. Pat Davis has a proven track record of promoting public policies that help animals, and he has committed to continue supporting improved animal shelters, law enforcement training and more balanced coexistence with wildlife.”
An outspoken advocate of New Mexico’s animals, Davis has demonstrated a genuine commitment to improving the lives and welfare of animals in Albuquerque. Voters are encouraged to cast their ballot for this leader whose dedication to animal issues will ensure city policies reflect the community’s humane values. His record of animal protection advocacy includes working with Corrales residents to ban tethering in the village.
Davis would like to create a more robust role for a citizen advisory board to monitor progress for the city’s animal shelters to ensure animal care and adoption are state-of-the art, and to expand spay/neuter services in the city. Davis, who lives with Gus, an 8-year old cat, understands the importance of a strong and capable animal shelter.
As a former police officer for UNM, Davis also knows first hand about the link between animal cruelty and human violence. If elected, he plans to encourage state government to provide training to assist law enforcement officers in identifying and helping animals as a part of helping entire families move beyond crises in their lives. Davis pledges to support Albuquerque residents’ belief in coexistence with wildlife, favoring non-lethal methods of resolving human-wildlife conflicts when native animals make their way into urban areas.
