At Animal Protection Voters, we’re focused on the long game. The kind of systemic change we fight for to protect the animals in New Mexico doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why we value and cherish our supporters, who help us stay committed to our goals. Next month we have an amazing opportunity for those dedicated to animal protection in our state to come together for a great time, and an even greater cause.
Howl and Be Heard, a benefit concert series featuring folk sensation Dana Lyons, will not only build the solidarity we need to stand up for the wildlife, horses, companion animals, and farmed animals that face abuse, neglect and cruelty every day, but will also help raise the funds we need to sustain our work in 2016 and beyond.

APV is hosting one event in Albuquerque on June 18, and another in Santa Fe on June 19. Buying a $25 ticket to our Albuquerque concert at Outpost Performance Space or a $35 ticket to our intimate Santa Fe event at APV ‘s state-of-the-art office, is more than a ticket to a fantastic musical experience— it’s a ticket to the future our animals deserve.
APV’s mission is to change the laws to change animals’ lives. That means that in order to create a culture and society where all animals are treated humanely, with compassion and respect, we must work with humane-minded lawmakers on legislation to achieve concrete protections for animals, like:
- Securing safe haven for the companion animals of domestic violence victims.
- Ensuring the removal of cruel traps and dangerous poisons on our public lands.
- Protecting coyotes from senseless, horrific killing contests.
- Maintaining a well-funded statewide spay and neuter program that will help end the needless suffering and death of cats and dogs.
- Keeping horse slaughter facilities permanently out of our state, and establishing a safety net for our beautiful and majestic equines.
The tragedy of animal neglect and cruelty doesn’t only affect animals—it creates a ripple effect that negatively impacts people and communities, too. It chips away at the very heart and soul of our humanity. With your help, proceeds from these benefit concerts will bolster and amplify the important work we do—the work you are invested in and hope to see succeed, just as much as we do.
