We change the laws to change their lives.
One of the most important tools that can be used to reduce animal suffering is passing laws that better protect animals. In order to pass local, state and federal laws, citizens who care about animals must join forces.
Animal Protection Voters (APV) is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization formed in October 2002 in New Mexico with a mission to:
- Actively promote and support animal-friendly legislation at the local, state and federal levels;
- Build an effective political voice for animal advocacy in New Mexico; and
- Hold New Mexico’s elected officials accountable on animal issues.
The APV Lobby Team works to create a strong presence on behalf of animals in the bodies of government impacting New Mexico’s animals, through extensive lobbying and efforts to build a vocal and active APV membership across the state, and ensure that lawmakers are held accountable for how they vote on animal issues. We also help to elect good candidates to public offices, and operate a political action committee, APV-PAC. As a 501(c)(4) organization, Animal Protection Voters is in a unique position to accomplish this crucial and comprehensive approach to protect New Mexico’s animals.
